TFP means Time For Print
TFP means that you get pictures on paper or on disk for your time modeling. How many is negotiable. Generally you do not get to choose what you receive and it is expected that you get the best of the group of pictures which includes any and all images the photographer uses. (However, this is good to have in writing.)
The poses etc are generally up to the photographer. You may or may not receive makeup or hairstyling. Occasionally you will get to keep the wardrobe or you may be required to bring your own. This should all be clearly understood before you go.
Don't expect TFP to replace any service you generally pay for such as portfolio production or agent responsibilities. It does get you in front of the camera and can help you become more mentally prepared to work with multiple photographers.
Most photographers that offer TFP are just like you. That is to say they have little or no experience and/or they have no money to pay for models. A large number are only interested in nudes and either state it up front or hide it in the offer somewhere.
If you want to practice at being a model with a photographer that is interested in using you for practice too, then ... go for it. Some people have a great time and make great friendships in TFP shoots. Just don't go into it with expectations and it is strongly suggested that you discuss all the particulars in advance and bring a chaperone. |
